SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Solar panel installer SolarCity Corp. expects to start offering debt directly to individual investors and small institutional investors in the first half of the year, according to Tim Newell, the company’s vice-president of financial products. Terms of the financial products would be disclosed when they become available, he added. SolarCity said earlier this week it had bought financial technology company Common Assets LLC, which developed the platform SolarCity will use to distribute its products. Newell, who was president and chief executive oficer of Common Assets, joined SolarCity as part of the transaction. Shares of SolarCity rose 1.6% in early trading Friday, up 17% on the week.
