LONDON (MarketWatch) — Bank of England Deputy Governor Paul Tucker will leave the central bank later this year to spend “a period of time in academia in the United States,” the bank said on Friday. Tucker was considered one of the likely candidates for becoming the new Governor after Mervyn King, but missed out on securing the job to Mark Carney, who takes over in July. The BOE said in the statement that the exact data of Tucker’s departure will be confirmed in due course, but that it’s likely to be in the fall, after “Paul has provided support to the new Governor, Mark Carney, through the first months of his term of office.”
